Regulations & Standards

North Merchiston Playgroup is committed to providing you and your child with a quality service.

We embrace equality and anti-discriminatory provision for all concerned.

We require the staff to be aware and adhere to the regulations and standards set down by The Care Inspectorate and The Scottish Social Services Council to ensure good practice.

Under the Child Protection guidelines, the Playgroup may be obliged to discuss a child’s welfare, in confidence, with the Social Work department without informing the parents.

Early years settings, such as playgroups, follow the Scottish Executive’s “Pre-Birth to Three” document, supporting our youngest children, along with “The Curriculum for Excellence” for our older children.
The ages of children that attend our setting require us to be aware of the principles and developmental needs set down in both these documents.

All parents/carers have open access to view all documents and policies regarding childcare development, children’s rights and requirements; we encourage you to read and understand these.

Parents have the right to be informed on all aspects regarding their child’s welfare and the management of the group.
