Pilates is a form of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility. ​

Do you want to try Nunchaku? Come and check this new discipline, the first month is free! (Nunchaku and helmet provided for beginners.) Four disciplines are practised at the Nunchaku International Academy: Fighting, Technique, Juggling and Katas. You will develop and practice skills such as: cardio, strategy, endurance, spatial awareness, ambidexterity, and fighting spirit.
Being a good Nunchaku student isn't about your age or gender, everyone can be excellent with patience and dedication. Price per month :

Founded by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido is a martial art which focuses on the art of self-defence. Aikido is often translated to ‘The way of unifying life’s energy’, showing the philosophical side of the art. The goal of Aikido is to use your opponent’s momentum to neutralise their attack. An interesting aspect of Aikido is that it does not solely use hand techniques. Aikido uses both Aiki-Ken (Wooden Sword) and Aiki-Jo (Wooden Staff) which are harder to use than traditional weapons showing the principle of extension, centring, and focus.

Performance and Choreography Course:

From 7-9pm, 2 hour class for 10 weeks in mirrored studio.

Focus - The first hour is for technical learning exercises & technique and the second hour is structured for performance and techniques and choreography, This course is aimed at students with previous dance experience.

This course includes 1x performance group show opportunity.
The course package is £220 for 10 weeks of 2 Hour lessons 7-9pm.

Thursdays also offer a 7-8pm course for 10 weeks for intermediate students who wish to improve technique but not quite ready for performance course package.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body, Self Defence.
Shorinji Kempo is a martial art which focuses on self-defence and spiritual development. It was founded in Japan shortly after world war two. We take inspiration from the philosophies of Japanese and Chinese martial arts as well as Zen Buddhism. Classes typically start with a group warmup and revision of basic techniques, followed by training in pairs. Shorinji Kempo has three groups of technique: Goho (hard technique) involves a wide variety of strikes, blocks, etc., whilst Juho (soft technique) involves joint reversals, releases, restraints, takedowns and throws. Seiho (correcting technique) uses acupressure manipulation of joints and muscles to relieve tension and reduce injury. We also practice seated meditation and practical philosophy. Everyone is welcome to join us, and no martial arts experience is necessary.

Although organised and funded by the Edinburgh Young People (Working Age) with Parkinson's Support Group, the group is open to anyone with Parkinson's, no matter your age. You don't have to be a member of Parkinson's UK either, which our group is a part of. Why not come along and join us? Family members and friends are also welcome. It's for all abilities, including complete beginners, and equipment will be provided. Eventually, we hope to provide some opportunities for competition for those of you who are interested. There is a charge of £5 per person per week (pay as you go).
